I don't think we need him. With Tate, Gunnell, Doyle and RhettRod...we don't want the staff to show our new highly-regarded QB's that we'll reruit over them with a guy that only has one year of eligibility.

Hurts would absolutely help for the short term. In the long run...no way.

Gunnell will be a true freshman next year, and would likely redshirt than start. Doyle, RhettRod, Lane, or Joiner would only fill the QB role until Gunnell takes the team in 2020. If Tate is not fully on board with the coaching staff and how they want the offense to play then it makes sense that he transfers for his senior year, and we bring in someone that can lead the team.

The QB spot is the one position that every team recruits over and they should always take the best QB available. If AZ shouldn't take Hurts in fear of hurting the feelings of Doyle, Joiner, or RhettRod then AZ shouldn't have recruited Gunnell as he will be the starter in 2020 over any of them.

I was thinking more of Gunnell/Doyle as the two with an opportunity to start right away.

If the rumors are true about Tate graduating early though...that changes everything because Gunnell/Doyle would likely be OK with Hurts taking over for one season because they assumed that Tate would be here anyway.

          Interesting situation...

Tate might graduate in the summer and grad transfer to Illinois

Really? To play for Rod Smith again?

The real question is who is an option for Tate? He wont have time to learn a new offense

Not sure what Ole Miss' QB situation looks like, but Rich Rod is their new OC.

I'm pretty sure RR and Tate don't get along

If you bet Oklahoma at +2000 when those first lines came out, you just made some money.

                          Jalen Hurts transferring to Oklahoma.
